His Purpose For You

So many times, we get caught up with trying to find ‘our purpose’ in life.  Even as Christians, we sometimes fail to remember that Christ is our purpose...and the reason we are alive.

Sometimes we try to look ahead to the future, thinking to ourselves ‘Ooh, my purpose is somewhere in the future.  God will reveal it to me tomorrow...next week...next month...next year...’

But no.

Your purpose is here and now.

And that purpose is to serve God.  To love Him.  To obey Him.  To follow the purpose He has for you right here, right now.

What your goal should be, isn’t in the future.  What you are supposed to become, isn’t ahead of you.  You are living your purpose right now - even as you read this!  Your purpose is to live for the glory of God and to serve Him in everything you say, do and think.  His plan for your life involves every minute detail in every part of your day in every little thing you do.

You are serving your purpose in being the soft clay that God is forming into the beautiful person He wants you to become.

What greater purpose to have?

  3. Something to ponder. How tragic it would be if we stray from that purpose.

  4. such a good point! and yet all the time we can live in expectation of the future - because that in another sense is also what we live for: for perfection in heaven, where we can serve our creator with 1000x more zeal and adoration. But while here on earth, definitely, here to honour and glorify Him! xoxok

  5. This is truth--praise the Lord for sharing it! Ecclesiastes 9:10: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going."

  10. Wonderful Raquel, just amazing. I don't think I've ever thought about it this way before, never.
Such a great thing that I really needed to hear. You are right, we shouldn't wait for God to reveal His purpose for us, because we are living it right now :)

  13. Wow, is this post perfect timing! I just moved to college last Friday, away from my parents and five younger siblings and started classes Monday. I've been having a rough time adjusting and coping with all the changes, on top of mountains of homework. It's been easy to get caught up in what I need to get done instead of Who I'm doing it for.

    Thank you!!!!

  15. Oh my goodness I needed this so much right know. For the past couple of weeks I have been praying to God saying, "Ok God, What do you want me to do with my life?" And thinking the same thing that He will reveal it tomorrow, next week, next month or next year. I am going to try my hardest to serve God full heartedly from now on.
