Our King has won the war

Facing temptations is a daily struggle for us.  We, as believers, are constantly waging a battle against the evil forces in this world.  Against the temptations that are placed before us on a platter of delicious looking delights.  And it takes all we can to stop, turn around and walk away from it.

When you are facing temptations like these, here are some quick passages to turn to in your sword.

Remember: the Word of God contains everything you need to pursue a godly life and to fight against the evil one.  God didn’t put us on this earth and say ‘Here, try figuring out life till I call you home.’  No.  He gave us guidelines, rules, encouragement, and help.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Remember: You are MORE than conquerers through Jesus Christ.  What He did on the cross paid the price for all your sins, sealed the deal, and you’re His forever.

Remember: In Christ, the battle is already won.  Whenever you’re facing challenges and fears, when you think you can’t succeed in something, or you feel like you’re slipping back into a sinful habit, remember that Jesus already won that battle for you.  It’s been fought.  You won it IN HIM.

‘No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, Who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.’
- 1 Corinthians 10:13

‘I will lift my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD Who made the heavens and the earth.’
- Psalm 121:1-2

‘Submit therefore to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.’
- James 4:7-8

‘For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.’
- Hebrews 2:18

‘Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, with prayer and supplication through thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God.  And let the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’
- Philippians 4:6-7

‘It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.’
- Galatians 5:1
