What is the purpose of this life? To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
Does that sound like this is all about you?
We can glorify God in many different ways. Serving and loving others, sharing the Gospel message, being an example of Christ to believers and non-believers alike. This is our calling.
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light."
- 1 Peter 2:9
But many times we get distracted, side-tracked and lose the sight of our life's goal. We get upset about every little bump in the road, or when we fall short and feel like a total failure. This is needless, though. If it doesn't contribute to the greater good, if it doesn't store up treasures in heaven, then why waste your time with it? Focus on who you are and what your calling is in life.
Life isn't about you. Yes, of course you'll have different standards and convictions than the next person, but don't let that cloud your vision and disturb your walk. The world doesn't revolve around you and what you have to say about this and that. Share your thoughts, but don't push it onto others. I really don't give a hoot about every little news article, latest celebrity gossip, or people's opinions on politics. No offense, but we have way more important things to fill our minds with.
We have a job, fellow siblings in Christ.
We must stand on the Word of God and defend its Truth.
Keep your eyes on the prize of the upward call of Him Who died to save you. The enemy wants to distract us and wants us to rant and rave about things that don't matter - or at least, shouldn't matter - in our day to day lives. Don't give in to his attempts at pulling you from our Father.
Stay the course.
